Beginners’ class
Students will begin by learning the silk reeling energy exercises that are
unique to Chen Style Tai Chi and the fundamental stepping movements that are
the foundation of the forms that are learned later. This will be accompanied by
the energy preserving exercises and meditation.
Classes will progress over time to include the following:
11 short form
The Tai Chi 11 Form was created by Master Liming Yue after many years of study with
Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei and Grandmaster Kongjie Gou. The Tai Chi 11 is a simplified
form based on authentic Chen Style Tai Chi Old Frame or Laojia and holds true to all the
principles and philosophy of this the original form of Tai Chi. The Tai Chi 11 is short,
easy to follow, and easy to learn making it excellent for beginners and people who have
limited time. Yet despite its simplicity the form does not compromise any of the principles
that have made the practice of Tai Chi famous throughout the world.
83 Xin Jia (New Frame) form
This is the first series of movments of the orthodox Chen Style Tai Chi. Xin Jia is the New
Frame routine which empahsises the circling and twining movements and develops the use of soft
and relaxed forms balanced with fast and explosive actions to understand energy release.
Cannon Fist (Pau Chui)
This is the second series of movments and places emphasis on the faster actions and enery release.
This form is for advanced students of Tai Chi who wish to develop their Tai Chi to a higher level
and understand the martial art application.
Push hands
Push hands are two person exercises that develop sensitivity and awareness of an opponents movements.
As well as being the first step to learning the martial applications they help develop understanding
of posture and movement in the hand forms.
Weapons forms
There are a range of weapons forms:- sword, staff, sabre and spear form.
